Why Windows 8 cannot fail.
6Its been quite a time since Windows 8 was first introduced though officially it was launched yesterday around the globe. While Windows 8 has been getting some good review’s there are still eye brow’s raised whether microsoft would be able to meet the demand of people who are now looking for either an Apple product of an Android based smartphone. Though doubts over Windows 8 is valid enough but considering the reviews that Windows 8 has got from industry experts, it would take some courage for critics to point out that Windows 8 would fail big time.
So here’s an in depth post about why Windows 8 cannot fail, be it in PC, Smartphone or Tablet category.
Strong backup:
Well, you cannot point finger to Windows 8 atleast in PC category, with over 85% market share around the world in PC category, it would take some stupidity on the part of Microsoft to loose the battle in PC category,
If we go by the above graph, Windows XP, Windows 7 and Windows Vista {I shouldn’t had named it ) has a total market share of 88%, with Mac OS X having share of around 8-9% and Linux still lingering at around 1.5% share
Even if we compare continent wise data about Windows, Mac OS X and other PC operating system, its Windows who still wins the race by quite a margin,
like in Asia, the number grow’s even stronger for Windows. Windows has a market share of 95% in Asia with Mac OS X hardly having 1.75% share.
In America, though Window’s has been losing war with Apple quite a bit, but windows still remains the market leader in US markets too with a total share of 85%,.
Recently during Apple’s iPad mini launch event Apple did show up that Apple now hold’s 13% market share in PC section, it may look lucrative for Apple fan boy’s but Microsoft is still way ahead with 85% market share.
Though the amount in which tablets and smartphones have been sold has increased exponentially in recent years, laptops and desktops are getting sold in equal number too. Microsoft’s CEO Steve Ballmer during Windows 8 launch did mention that 670 Million PC are waiting to get it upgraded to Windows 8, though analyst call that Microsoft would be able to sell 400 Million copies of PC’s with Windows 8 pre-installed in it by the end of 2013.
Contrary to PC market share, Microsoft has huge task in front of them to get Windows 8 in Handheld devices. With total market share of 61%, Android tops the list in Mobile OS, whereas iOS is second in the list with 20% market share, Blackberry OS accounting for 6.2% market share and Windows on 4th with a market share of 5.2%. Data clearly states that Microsoft have their work cutout to get Metro UI design in Tablets and smartphones around the globe
An In Depth post about what Windows 8, what its about, how to upgrade, as we had chance to do hand’s on on it
Great UI

Great UI
Though, Windows has been getting pretty good reviews in Personal Computer category, but the metro style operating system was not planned for your Laptop, it was for that hybrid stuff that most probably you would buy next. The active tile interface brings much-needed break from those black Android and iOS screens. The change which is the biggest one till date by windows, has people awww for it and some people making that “huh?” as people are still trying to figure out how to operate them, for those who have mastered it its walk in the park for them, as modern UI design has helped them save time considerably.
While you boot up windows 8 you see those nice looking, wonderful coloured tiles, in case you are not so used to with Metro UI, you can directly skip to Windows 7 desktop interface which is actually an Application inbuilt in windows 8. Windows 8 which is touch friendly is going to be delight to use as it was the case when Steve Job’s first introduced iOS way back in 2005.
Easy upgrade option.
This is the best part for those already using Windows 7 in their PC, they can easily upgrade to Win 8 just be paying 15$ to 40$ depends on various condition’s
For More Upgrade options visit Windows Upgrade page
Like if you have bought a Win 7 PC/Lappy after 2nd June 2012, you can directly upgrade to Windows 8 for 39.99$, whereas if you are planing to buy one before 28th Feb 2013, then you would be able to upgrade to Win 8 for just 15$.
So people are more tempted to try this new tile OS with just shelling out 15$ only. So over all it’s an win-win situation for both users as well as Microsoft as its increasing their market share in process.
So we hardly feel that windows 8 gonna fail big time, we gave some valid reason’s to why it’s almost next to impossible for Microsoft’s best OS till date to fail. What do you think about the newest OS and how it would affect the market, have you say!
