Microsoft Surface RT: Priced at $499 For 32GB
0Hope you have heard too much about Microsoft Surface, a Tablet PC running on Windows 8 Operating System and although considered as a main competitor of Apple iPad in the market. Even though the features and specifications of the mentioned Tablet PC were unveiled earlier, Microsoft had kept silence in price of Microsoft Surface. But today, this is also unveiled by Microsoft CEO.
Microsoft Surface RT will be priced at $499 for the 32GB model whereas the 64GB variant costs $699 without its touch cover (Both are Wi-Fi only versions). If you want to include the Tablet’s features of Touch Cover + Touch Sensitive Keyboard, you will have to pay an excess $119.99 which will make the Tablet’s price $599 and $799 for 32GB and 64GB Variants respectively. The pricing is increasing the chance of the Tablet PC to compete with Apple iPad since it’s competitively lower than that of iPad. If you’re in need of type cover consisting of hardware keys, you’ll have to pay another $129.99.
The company had updated their online store in order to allow users of pre-ordering the Tablet, but the link is now broken. But the following image is of Microsoft Online Store taken by TechCrunch. From the website it was clear that people outside US can also pre-order the device and they’ll be getting it. The firm is to bundle Office Home & Student 2013 RT Preview, Touch Cover, Quick start guide and relevant data in the box.
Some Advertisements for Surface were published recently confirming its release to be October 26th, the same day when Windows 8 will be launched publicly by Microsoft. Microsoft added that the pricing of Surface will be roughly in line with competition when compared with Windows 8 powered Tablet PC’s, Notebooks, Ultrabooks and any other variants.
More excitingly, as said before, Microsoft Surface will be based on Windows 8 OS which is a Dual Operating System with both PC and Mobile Platform compatibility. The brand new Operating System is expected to have the power by which it can replace the commonly used iPad Tablets whereas Win 8 tablets could replace Windows 7 powered Laptops. Although becomes a stronger rival to Tech Giants including Apple and Google.
Although, there are some revolutionary features of Windows 8 which is expected to bear a visual mode of Windows 7 as well as a Tablet PC Operating System to compete with it. The ‘Metro’ interface of Win 8 will be also empowering Microsoft Surface. Altogether, the Future of Microsoft Surface is expected to be in ultimate success as well as being a rival to existing Tablet PC’s around the market. Even though Microsoft had added that “Surface with Windows RT works exclusively with apps from the Windows Store” it’s still doubtful that whether it could compete with iPad being an untested one by Microsoft.
