Dropbox is one of the most essential and useful services available on the Internet. Businesses small and large are taking advantage of it, as well as individual members of the general public. It allows users the chance to hold and backup all of their data online in a form of cloud storage that guarantees safety and security. Now a computer crash doesn’t have to mean that vital pieces of data are lost. Dropbox and any files stored on the service can be accessed by any Internet-enabled device, any time, anywhere. Dropbox offers the ultimate flexibility.

Since the App revolution, we’ve been presented with a huge number of amazing little ways to achieve so much, or to simply make life easier, and there are some great apps that have been synchronized with Dropbox to make even more of this great service:

Quickoffice

For only $9.99, it’s possible to create documents and spreadsheets from any smartphone or tablet. It supports the iPhone, Android, Symbian, and Blackberry platforms, among others, and with a Dropbox account, any files can be saved or viewed from there. Now it doesn’t matter if a computer is in reach or not. It should be noted that the price and the support services will differ depending on the platform. Dropbox might be linked, but it doesn’t mean that the app is.

InSync

Connecting cloud to cloud is another way to achieve greater synchronicity. InSync is not an app that’s strictly geared towards connecting with DropBox. Instead, a trick can be used to change this incredibly useful app into an essential app for people on the move, or who regularly move between devices. Normally, InSync is designed to synchronize Google Documents files to a home computer. This can be changed by simply going into the local folder for the app and changing it to any Dropbox folder, and when files are synchronized, they get lodged in Dropbox. It isn’t a permanent alteration, and it can be changed back, so it’s an app that has multiple uses.

Boxcryptor

Security is an essential factor when using Dropbox on a home computer or via a mobile device. Boxcryptor is a device that’s used with the Android and iOS to help users keep their personal data safe. Primarily, it’s something that was created for use on home computers, but it was quickly converted for use on mobile devices. Users are able to create encrypted folders for free. In its most basic form the app is completely free, so users are able to encrypt their important files from their mobile devices. The number you are allowed to create is limited, and once the limit is reached, you will be prompted to pay for further encryptions.

DropItToMe

DropItToMe is a service that can be accessed from a mobile device and allows group collaboration. Fundamentally, it’s a group Dropbox system. A special URL is provided to each user. The URL can be used for friends and clients to upload files. It’s ideal for businesses that want to share documents and data and for friends who want to share pictures, etc. Passwords can be implemented to restrict access, and to protect any files that have been uploaded.

Droplet

One of the simplest Dropbox related apps is URL Droplet. It is an extremely useful little tool that allows you to send URL links to your Dropbox for use later; so much easier than bookmarking or adding to favorites, and no clutter.
