We used to put our PC in sleep mode when there are no such active procedures going on. Usually, the system keeps the Sleep mode until we press a button or moving the mouse. Here, we will tell you a way to wake up your PC in a specific time and to do a work (Running a programme or making some changes.)
You can use this tip for performing many more things like Performing big weighing downloads in off-peak hours, Start other actions or running programmes before you wake up from sleep in the morning. Follow the below steps to let your PC to do things in a specific time.
Set a Wake Up Time
We will have to set up a scheduled task for waking up your PC from sleep. You can easily open this utility by searching ‘Task Scheduler’ in start menu (Microsoft Windows already includes this utility.)
In the task Scheduler window, you have to make a new scheduled task. To do so, click on ‘Create Task’ link on the right section of the window.
You may give the task a name such as ‘Wake Up From Sleep’ and also a description. Other than this, you may fix some conditions there itself. For example, you can set a condition by which the task will only perform if the user is logged into PC and vice versa. You can also set the task to run with highest privileges.
Select the triggers tab in the window. You have to make a trigger for running a specific task in a specific time. You can repeat this task Daily, Weekly or Monthly.
Select the Conditions tab and there you can set up conditions for running this task. For example, if you need to run a download, a network should be connected to internet for running the task and you can set this condition in the tab.
For waking up your PC from sleep you should tick the option ‘Wake the computer to run this task.’
On the actions tab, you have to specify the action which should be run by your PC. i.e. you can let the task to launch a programme to download a file. If you need to wake your system up with running no programmes, put there to run cmd.exe with /c “exit” arguments – This will let windows to launch a Command Prompt Window and close it immediately.
You can save the task after making specific changes to the task. Since computers don’t forget things, it will perform the saved actions punctually and correctly. Hope this trick will be useful for you. Is there any other way for performing an PC Action automatically ? Share it on comment boxes.
