Google I/O 2012 What To Expect
1Apple WWDC and Mobile World Congress is over and via these great events, Apple and Microsoft have introduced their new products to tech world. As you saw, Apple had introduced iOS 6, New Mac books when Microsoft put forward Windows 8 and Microsoft Surface –A tablet PC which works on Windows RT and Pro platforms- in this time. And being another tech giant, next chance is of Google. Lot of products, services, and developments are expected to get launched in Google I/O in San Francisco.
Google I/O is a technology conference held by Google concentrating Google Developers. Usually Google I/O includes technical cum in-depth sessions about Web Building, Mobile & Enterprise Application development with Google and other open web technologies like Android, Chrome, Chrome OS, Google APIs, Google Web Toolkit, App Engine etc. This conference was started in 2008. The ‘I’ & ‘O’ of Google I/O means Input/output and Innovation in the Open as well. Google used to launch and announce awesome products and features in each year’s Google I/O. For example Google Chromebooks were launched in Google I/O 2011 while Google I/O 2010 was for Android, Chrome, and Google TV etc.
Now, let us have a look on Google I/O 2012 which is conducted on June 27-29 at San Francisco. With a difference from previous events, Google I/O 2012 extended to three days. Its sure that Google will exhibit their talent and excellence in developments along with launching new services. Lot of expectations and rumors are being spread surrounding this developer conference. But Google CEO, Larry Page will be silent at Google I/O 2012. So let us have a look on what we can expect on Google I/O 2012.
Android Jelly Bean
Yeah it’s sure. Latest version of Google’s Android OS is expected to be launched in Google I/O 2012. Lot of sources had been reporting that Android Jelly Bean is to get live by the end of June 2012. And the time has come. Android Jelly Bean will be an evolution to the current Android OS but not an actual change to OS. Giving us a clue, the latest version of Android is named Android 4.1 and not Android 5.0. And hope the new version of OS will bring new and interesting features to Smartphones and Tablet PCs running on Android OS.
Google Nexus 7 Tablet
Rumors about Google Nexus 7 have been spread from the launch of Google Nexus Prime. Expectations and rumors will be gradually increased since all other Gadget manufacturers including Apple and Microsoft has come with iPad and Surface. Google Nexus 7 is expected to be a Seven-inch Tegra 3 Tablet PC running on Android Ice Cream Sandwich or Android Jelly Bean.
The tablet which has a possibility to be called us Asus Nexus 7 is reported to come with a low price tag. And so to be a true competitor and rival to Amazon Kindle Fire and some other tablet PCs ruling the gadget world. Google Chrome is expected to be the default web browser for this Quad-Core powered Tablet PC. And Google is also expected to launch 5 Nexus smartphones that runs in Android v4.1 later this year.
May be Google’s SIRI
SIRI, the virtual assistant of Apple can’t be excluded while taking a list of Apple’s exclusive features and products. And it was the very same reason for the success of Apple iPhone 4S through which SIRI was introduced to the technology world. Still, no tech giants have their perfect work to compete with Apple SIRI or even compare with it. But Google I/O 2012 will surely have a change. As Google said to WSJ, They are now working on Google Assistant through which Android’s Voice Control Facilities can improve. So Google Assistant has to be a real google version of SIRI or more than SIRI.
As being a great search engine, Google can make use of its Knowledge Graph in Google Assistant through which it can understand ‘what the user is actually looking for’ rather than making the word a search term or criteria. Acquisition of Voice Specialists Phonetic Arts will also help google to improve the voice output of Google Assistant. No need to say that Google Assistant will be awesome as well as being a competitor to Apple’s SIRI.
Google’s Glasses Too!! (They Have to Do It)
Google’s Project Glass spectacles are set to start shipping in 2013. And if the firm needs apps for Project Glasses, they need to make developers aware about the gadget and application development as well. And so Google I/O needs to include a focus on wearable gadgets including their Project glasses, Smart Watch and In-car Android (As per the reports of Global Equity Research). And the reason for I/O’s extension is here because the developers need to know lot more than usual.
The Very Same Home Entertainment Device
Several months before, sources had reported about Home Entertainment Device that being developed by Google. As they said to WSJ, ‘Google is developing a home entertainment system that streams music wireless throughout the home and would be marketed under the company’s own brand’. And the mentioned device is also included in the expected list of Google I/O 2012.
Google hopes that the device will be a great revenue source of the company. But do you think it will get much popular while devices from other manufacturers are available at an affordable cost? So the device can also be a part of Google TV, a google approach to a big screen.

Conclusion: The list of expectations and rumors ends here. But as Apple and Microsoft did, Google will surely include a surprise in I/O Conference 2012. Google will also broadcast each and every events of I/O through Youtube. Even if you have missed the tickets of I/O, what you have to do is to just check Google I/O’s official Webpage.
