Hope you all are aware about Google’s latest Social Networking Service, Google Plus. And I’m sure that a majority of readers are using it too. When the mentioned social network was launched by Google in order to substitute old Orkut, Hangouts was the main and interesting feature in it. By including Hangouts in Google Plus, Google was opening a simple but great way to interact with your friends rather than a usual voice chat or video chat.

As you know, Google Hangouts are allowing users to have a group video chat with upto 10 participants. Recently Google Plus had got some major changes in User Interface and design. And Hangouts were there to participate in it. Google Plus team has arranged special hangouts for each topic like designing development and more. And so Google Hangouts are very much popular now rather than other video chat providers. And so let’s have a look on the reasons which makes Google Hangouts cool and useful than video chat providers especially Skype. Personally, these reasons are enough me to shift to Google Hangouts from Skype.

1. Number Of Participants

First of all, the main feature is the number of participants that can be added in a Google Hangout. As they offer, users can add upto 9 participants (excluding host) in Google Hangouts. Even a Group Audio Chat is available on Skype it is not enough to satisfy users as Google Hangouts do. If you want to add a third person to your Skype video chat, you have to purchase its premium version. But mighty google serves this feature free for all users.

2. Great User Interface

Google Hangouts are having a nice and attractive user interface when compared to other Skype along with more features. It is not able to describe all its features and let us consider the most attractive one.

The feature is named Screen Sharing which allows user to share their computer’s screen to the whole hangout members. Host can also test the screen before letting others join in Hangout. For sharing your screen in Hangout, click the Screenshare Button and a window will open. Through this window, you can share a specific screen only. Even the feature is available in Skype, But what Google Plus has cared about the simplicity and nice User Interface.

3. Integration Of Apps

While Skype video chats are offering you only a file sending facility, Google Hangouts lets you to integrate other Google Services Or Apps with your Hangout. You can use YouTube, Google Docs, and Slideshare along with your Google Hangout. So you can include a Document saved in Google Docs, Create Diagrams with team and also watch a Youtube Video with friends. So this feature is also making Google Hangouts Better than Skype.

4. Hangouts On Air

Another facility of Google Hangouts is its ability to be personal and professional. For example if you are setting up a hangout on a most trending topic / on a topic on which you are an expert, you can broadcast your hangout with YouTube Channel. You can also publicize your Hangout on Google Plus Profile Or on your website. Users can directly save Hangouts Video to their youtube Account which can be published later. But you can’t broadcast and save your hangouts with privacy.

5. Minimum Requirements

What you need for accessing Google Hangouts is just a web browser, Google Account, and a Webcam. You don’t need to install softwares or plug-ins in your PC since the installation of required plug-ins will be done in seconds. But in the case of Skype, you have to download and install it and regularly updating it as well. So these kinds of simple but great requirements are making Google Hangouts rich and popular every time.

—————————————————————————————————————————–

So we are concluding with a general opinion which shows that Google Plus Hangouts are now better for Group Video Chats. Still, personally I recommend Skype to make voice calls, group voice calls, and video calls. Because Skype has a great voice quality and video quality even users are using a slow internet connection.

Even Google Plus Hangouts are the dominating one in conclusion; it has some disadvantages while compared to Skype. First one is the lack of a Desktop Client. It will be great if Google Hangouts are having a specific client like Google Talk. Hope Google will include such features soon. By the Way, don’t forget to add your experiences with Google Hangouts in the comment box.

  • Understanding The Internet

Understanding the internet is the first step in becoming an expert user. there are many web technologies out there from responsive design to voip. One of the latest developments is the Ring Central internet fax, a service that uses voip technology enabling users to send an receive faxes from any PC or mobile device with internet access.

  • Backing it Up

As we become more digital our memories become digital too. All our images, files and music are saved on our PC and in most cases on our PC only. Users who are tech oriented may have back their files up to an external hard drive which is good but it doesn't have the benefits of an online backup service. Any user can take advantage of such a service assuring the that their sensitive information is never lost.
