5 Google Alternatives As A Search Engine When Privacy Does Matter
3Some people used to say that most of internet users are using Google.com to check whether their internet connection is right rather than as a search engine. Whatever their opinion is, most of us will be typing the address www.google.com (no need because of auto completion) while starting our web browser. Yahoo and other search engines are never considered while talking about Search Engine Optimization and Page Ranks because the dominating internet giant is Google. Variety of features provided by Google is the one reason for their success. Even some of us will be satisfied if there was an equation like Internet = Google.
Anyhow, when analyzing the privacy protection provided by Google, some of us will think not to get onto Google again. The rest part does not at least know that they are being tracked by Google then how they could choose alternatives for Google? However we are giving you a list of some Alternatives for Google as Search Engine and not a Google Alternatives (We know finding a complete Google alternative is not possible at this moment.) Search Engines included in these alternatives are those you can use without a fear about privacy breaking. Majority of these services are not tracking visitor neither using cookies to identify you.
I prefer DuckDuckGo for you if you demand Security and Privacy on internet more than variety of internet related services. As the firm adds in their privacy policy, DuckDuckGo loads no content which can identify you personally. And neither uses cookies to identify users. The search engine also erases user agents and IP addresses from their server if your search is over.
DuckDuckGo has a very simple homepage when compared to Google. And since they know nothing about you and your tastes, DuckDuckGo can only provide same search results even if the users are different in mentality.
If you want to know about DuckDuckGo security systems and why they are different, you may visit their Privacy Policy Page or Donttrackus page. They have presented in a funny way that how DuckDuckGo is different from Google while privacy and personal security matters.
If you love Google’s search engines but want more privacy more than Google provides, you may use Startpage. When you submit a search query on Startpage, it forwards it to Google and receives the results. So you will usually get Google search results. Google will just see a large number of searches from Startpage servers but they can never track you.
There is needless of a doubt of being tracked by Startpage because they are not even storing your IP addresses while using. So Startpage is like Scroogle an anonymous Google search service that doesn’t exist now. If you are still not satisfied with all these features, there is another one. You can start browsing from Startpage results using Ixquick’s proxy which means that your IP cannot be recognized by any websites. For more security, Ixquick also disables JavaScript. Of course browsing in this way is slower but privacy does matters.
Actually Ixquick is a sibling of Startpage. But Ixquick is the main search engine provided by the company owns both search engines. Ixquick bears same privacy policy and security features as Startpage do. But Ixquick grabs results from various resources along with Google results. So your results will be variety from Startpage gives.
Blekko is not much safer as Ixquick or DuckDuckGo because it takes 48 hours to erase your personal and identifiable content from their servers. While compared to Google its nice since the internet giant is keeping those contents for 9 months and anonymizes it without deleting.
When you create an account on Blekko you can completely delete your browsing data by using superprivacy feature. The service also provides useful features such as ad blocking, HTTPS preference and more.
Ask.com also provides a privacy feature named AskEraser for more security. You can enable AskEraser or not if it is enabled, Ask.com stores a single cookie instead of several cookies in order to identify that AskEraser is enabled for your PC. And so Ask.com will not store browsing history on their pc that is done from your Computer. But there is an exception in some rare circumstances.
Conclusion : Even we are using most of these features to protect privacy, what we need to actually do is just keeping your data private and no-one to not to interfere you on internet. Again saying, please be careful while using Internet Connections because you are not only the one who sees your stuffs.
