Therefore, we would be using a different method for the process of upgrading the device. In this method we will be using RedsnOw to preserve the unlockable baseband.

1. Download RedsnOw as per your device that is Windows Pc or Mac.

2. Now open RedsnOw and select the option Extras and then select Custom IPSW. A custom IPSW is created by RedsnOw.
   Download iOS 5.0 IPSW for iPhone 4 (GSM) (iPhone3,1_5.0_9A334_Restore.ipsw)
   Download iOS 5.0 IPSW for iPhone 4 (CDMA) (iPhone3,3_5.0_9A334_Restore.ipsw)
3.  Now select the option Pwned DFU from the Extras menu.
4. Now you must restore to your custom firmware.
5. You are now prepared to move ahead with the process of using Gevey SIM to Unlock iPhone 4 on iOS 5 Final.

Procedure to use Gevey SIM to Unlock iPhone 4 on iOS 5 Final

Step 1:

While executing this step to Unlock iPhone 4 on iOS 5 Final Using Gevey SIM  you must ensure that  in the SIM tray of your iPhone 4 there is no unofficial SIM present. Now, go to Settings then General and then finally Network turn the Enable 3G option OFF. Also turn the Cellular Data and Data Roaming option ON.

Step 2:

In this step all you have to do is take out the stock SIM tray that is present in your iPhone 4.

Step 3:

Now in the Gevey SIM tray put the interposer Gevey SIM card.

Step 4:

Now carefully place the unofficial iPhone SIM card over the interposer Gevey SIM.

Step 5:

Now turn off your iPhone 4.

Step 6:

Now place the arrangement of the Gevey SIM tray on which you have already placed the interposer Gevey SIM along with the unofficial iPhone SIM card into your iPhone 4.

Step 7:

Turn on your iPhone 4.

Step 8:

Once your phone is turned on a welcome message will be display. Two option Cancel and Accept would be present. Choose the option Accept .

Step 9:

On keep your eyes on the signal bar when you see that one signal bar has appeared call on 112.

Step 10:

Immediately end the call after 2 seconds.

Step 11:

Now go to Settings and turn the Airplane Mode option On. A message stating No SIM card installed will be displayed. Now tap on the OK button and the message will close. Once done with this turn the Airplane Mode option to Off.

Step 12:

Now a message SIM failure would be displayed. All you have to do now is tap on OK. The iPhone 4 will start unlocking on its own. Wait for a few seconds.

Step 13:

The signal bar of your iPhone will now appear to be full.
